February 24/25 Canterbury Opti Champs at Charteris Bay:
Results for MPYC sailors:
Hayden (3rd) and Luka (6th) sailed in the Green fleet
Diego (8th) and Jayden (9th) sailed in the Open Fleet

Three MPYC junior sailors recently competed at the 2017 Tauranga and Tanner Cup Championships, representing Canterbury, at the Plimmerton Boating Club.

Full results of the Championships can be found at Tanner-Cup-Results and Tauranga-Cup-Results.  Below is a regatta report from Thomas Pirker:

The Tanner cup went well for me as it was heavier conditions and I could handle down wind and I came 18th overall and Cara came 19th. The first day of the Tauranga cup was abandoned because the wind was over 25 knts and gusting 35 knts. On Saturday we did 5 races and the first 3 races were very light, Ella did very well while Cara and I didn't, when the wind picked up Cara and I did better. Sunday we did 4 races with around the same conditions, light in the morning and picking up to 30 knts in the afternoon. The results were similar on Sunday with Cara and I doing not so well in the light and getting better in the afternoon.  Overall Ella was 23rd, Cara came 24th, and I came 26th.

Well done to these three sailors for representing MPYC, and Canterbury so well.

Our P class sailors have been attending regattas for Tanner Cup/Tauranga Cup and the South Islands at Timaru.
Good overall results achieved with Thomas Pirker 4th, Cara Higinbottom 5th, Josh School 6th, and Ella Willcox 7th.
Good individual race results also with one 1st, two 2nds, and two 3rds in their results.
Even better results at the South Island Champs in Timaru with Thomas 1st, Josh 2nd and Ella 3rd.
If we don’t see them prior to the Nationals at New Years, we wish them all the best.
