Do You Wear Sailing Shoes??

If you don't- you should!!
There are lots of sharp items on the bottom of the estuary that your bare-feet could get cut on.
Jandals are no good - they come off when you capsize and the tops of your feet get sunburnt.
Just nag Mum or Dad to buy you some sailing shoes or use a pair of really old trainers with rips in!!

Splash Down!

Wash down your boat after sailing to get rid of all the salt that can damage your boat. The club usually puts out hoses for you to use! Don't forget to dry the boat out and hang your sail up to dry.

Sign on/ Sign off...

Before you head out on to the water make sure you sign on and when you come back in remember to sign off. This is important because in the case of an emergency, i.e. a howling southerly rips down the hill and blows everyone over, the club needs to make sure everyone has arrived back and no-one is in trouble out on the water. The sign on/sign off sheet is placed on the wooden ledge outside the main club house door (also where you can sign up for races)
